offbeat

Your Plex music.
No signal required.

Offbeat is an offline-first music player for your Plex library. Download your collection, flip one switch, and browse only what's actually on your phone — tunnels, flights and dead zones welcome.

Coming soon to the App Store · Requires a Plex Media Server

Streaming players fall apart the moment you lose signal. Your library shouldn't.

Download View.

One switch filters your entire library — artists, albums, genres, search — down to the music that's on your device right now. No buffering errors. No greyed-out disappointment. If you can see it, you can play it.

Features

Browse and search offline

Your full library index lives on your phone. Browse artists, albums, genres and playlists, and search everything — with zero connection.

Know what to download next

Offbeat suggests albums from your own collection you haven't downloaded yet — same artist, similar genre, similar era. Fill your phone before you leave Wi-Fi.

Downloads that finish

Queued, sequential, background-safe downloads that resume where they left off and retry on failure. Wi-Fi only by default.

A proper player

Playlists, queue management, shuffle and repeat, lock-screen controls, AirPlay, and play counts that sync back to your server.

How it works.

  1. 1

    Sign in with Plex

Connect with your existing Plex account and pick your music server. No Plex Pass needed.

  2. 2

    Pick what to download

Grab albums, artists or whole playlists. Offbeat queues it all up and keeps going in the background.

  3. 3

    Listen anywhere

Flip on Download View and your phone is a self-contained jukebox. Signal optional.

One-time purchase. No subscription.

Questions?

Do I need Plex Pass?

No. Offbeat works with any Plex Media Server — free account included. Some server-side extras (like lyrics) may need Plex Pass on the server, but downloads and playback in Offbeat never do.

Will it work with my server?

If your other Plex apps can reach your server, so can Offbeat: NAS, Raspberry Pi, old PC in a cupboard, remote or local. Offbeat connects via your Plex account and works with direct and relay connections.

What audio formats are supported?

FLAC, ALAC, AAC, MP3, WAV and OGG. Download originals at full quality, or have your server transcode to save space — your choice in Settings.

Will there be an Android version?

iOS first. A native Android version is planned if the iOS app finds its audience.

When does it launch?

Soon — it's in final testing now. Join the email list and you'll be first to hear (and first in line for the beta).

Never lose the music.
